Le Meurice Paris Review

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to stay at a hotel that’s practically a piece of history? Le Meurice has been setting the standard for luxury in Paris since 1835. Opened as one of the city’s first “palace hotels,” it was designed to give British travelers a taste of elegance and familiarity in the French capital. Since then, it’s become a go-to spot for everyone from royals to celebrities.

Located right by the Louvre, it’s known not only for its beautiful rooms and prime location but also for its fascinating history and famous guests. Salvador Dalí stayed so often that there’s now a suite named after him, and even Beyoncé used one of its suites for a music video. During WWII, the hotel even served as headquarters for the French Resistance.

With so much history and glamour, what’s it actually like to stay here today? Let’s dive in and see if Le Meurice lives up to its reputation.

Here we go! Let’s determine if staying here is worth it while we cover all aspects of the hotel, from the rooms to the location.

The Location

Le Meurice Paris Location

Le Meurice is ideally situated right by the Louvre, making it super convenient for exploring the best of Paris. If you’re flying in, it’s about a 30-minute drive from Charles de Gaulle Airport, or you can hop on the RER train to Châtelet-Les Halles and then catch a quick taxi or take a short walk. Traveling by train? Gare du Nord is just a 15-minute taxi ride away, or you can take the Metro for a few stops. Plus, the nearest subway station, Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre, is only about a 5-minute walk from the hotel, giving you easy access to the rest of the city.

The Rooms

Le Meurice Rooms

Curious about the rooms? Le Meurice features freshly renovated accommodations that are bright, quiet, and designed for relaxation. They’re the perfect escape after a day of exploring Paris. One standout feature is the TV in the bathtub—imagine soaking in a bubble bath while catching up on your favorite show. You’ll also find plenty of closet space for all your outfits, and the beds are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Plus, the spacious layout means you won’t feel cramped while you unwind. It’s the perfect blend of luxury and comfort.

I celebrated my birthday while I was there and was pleasantly surprised to find a chocolate cake with “Happy Birthday” written on it waiting for me in the room. It was a sweet touch that made my experience even more memorable.

The Restaurant

When it comes to dining at Le Meurice, there’s plenty to choose from! They have several options, including a Michelin-starred restaurant, a casual brasserie, and a stunning bar. While we decided to have dinner outside of the hotel and didn’t get to experience the Michelin dining, the breakfast served in that same breathtaking dining room is definitely a highlight you shouldn’t miss.

I can vouch for the bar, too! I enjoyed a couple of drinks there, and the atmosphere is just as beautiful as the rest of the hotel. The cocktail menu features both classics and some unique creations, so there's something for everyone. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, I highly recommend stopping by for a drink at the bar or enjoying breakfast in that gorgeous dining room.

The Amenities

While I can’t speak to the amenities' quality, Le Meurice has some options to enhance your stay. There’s a well-equipped gym for staying active and a spa with a steam room and sauna for relaxing. Just a heads up, though—there is no pool.

I didn’t visit the spa during my time there, so I can’t comment on that, but it looked like a nice space to unwind if you’re in need of a little pampering.

The Verdict

Although I only stayed for one night while passing through Paris, I genuinely loved my experience at Le Meurice. It was quite busy, but that’s what I get for celebrating my birthday during Fashion Week! The atmosphere was a mix of excitement and chaos, with plenty of famous faces around, which made it a fun experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, even with it being crowded, and you could tell they were committed to providing a personal touch for every guest.

The rooms were spacious, nice, and wonderfully quiet, making it easy to unwind. Plus, the location was super convenient for getting around the city using public transport. The restaurant is truly jaw-dropping, so even if you’re not staying at the hotel, I highly recommend stopping by for breakfast. Just a quick tip: if you prefer a nice view, opt for a city-view room, as the courtyard view isn’t particularly inspiring. Overall, this hotel is definitely at the top of my list of places to stay in Paris.
